Kashif Chaudry is Deputy Director for Aviation Security International Operations in the UKs Department for Transport. He is responsible for the UK’s global overseas aviation security assessment programme; working with host states and international partners to identify, understand and reduce the risk of terrorist attack to civil aviation through sharing aviation security expertise and advising UK Ministers on the terrorist threat to inbound flights to the UK.

Prior to taking up his current position, Kashif served with the Foreign & Commonwealth Office in South Africa as the UK Regional Director for border security and visa operations covering 50 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Kashif has over 20 years’ experience in border security and intelligence, having held senior Operational and Policy positions with the UK Home Office and Foreign & Commonwealth Office. This included leading work on establishing joint immigration and National Crime Squad investigative teams, combining Immigration and Police powers to tackle organised immigration crime and internal corruption. In addition he was responsible for the UK aviation liaison officer network, working with carriers to reduce the movement of inadequately documented passengers.

  • Assisted a GCC civil aviation regulator develop and implement the strategy to increase private sector participation in aviation.
  • Led the evaluation of applications for the setting up of a new airline, which resulted in the commencement of a new carrier in GCC.
  • Led the development of the strategy to leverage a large fleet order book to set up an asset management company for a major aviation group.
  • Developed strategy to increase market share and profitability from the sale of ground handling services at a major airport in Asia.
  • Project managed the development of the global distribution strategy for a leading Middle East flag carrier; assessed yield and cost of sale.
