Kashif Chaudry is Deputy Director for Aviation Security International Operations in the UKs Department for Transport. He is responsible for the UK’s global overseas aviation security assessment programme; working with host states and international partners to identify, understand and reduce the risk of terrorist attack to civil aviation through sharing aviation security expertise and advising UK Ministers on the terrorist threat to inbound flights to the UK.
Prior to taking up his current position, Kashif served with the Foreign & Commonwealth Office in South Africa as the UK Regional Director for border security and visa operations covering 50 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Kashif has over 20 years’ experience in border security and intelligence, having held senior Operational and Policy positions with the UK Home Office and Foreign & Commonwealth Office. This included leading work on establishing joint immigration and National Crime Squad investigative teams, combining Immigration and Police powers to tackle organised immigration crime and internal corruption. In addition he was responsible for the UK aviation liaison officer network, working with carriers to reduce the movement of inadequately documented passengers.
