Aviation Risk Management Specialist
Maha Alyemni is currently working in the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) as an Aviation Risk Management Specialist under the General Department of Safety and Risk. She was the first Saudi female to be hired by the Civil Aviation Authority of Saudi Arabia. She is an Embry Riddle Aeronautical University graduate who majored in Aviation Management.
Her focus now is on aviation safety reports with regards to data analysis, root cause analysis, risk management, and how to apply that to the effective implementation of the ICAO’s State Safety Program (SSP).
Maha has a minor in Aviation Psychology from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, and that formed the bases of her interest in human factors in aviation safety. After joining GACA, she earned the IATA Safety Management for Civil Aviation Diploma as the first qualified Saudi female in this field. She also was a pioneer in occupying a director position, as she was the first Saudi female acting as the Director of Aviation Licensing and Certification in 2016. During that year, she registered the first UAV in the Saudi Register carrying a “7Z-” prefix. She also issued the first Sport (Recreational) Pilot License and the first Ground-Handling Work Permit in the kingdom. Alyemni contributed in multiple committees like the Civil Aviation Law Revision Committee, amending the regulations of both UAVs and Ground Services Committees, and was a main member in The Transformation Committee of the Saudi civil aviation authority GACA.
